The ones who are scared, loyal, loving, and often left at the mercy of humans who don’t always treat them with kindness and tolerance for the situation they’re in.

I don’t know exactly when it started. Maybe it was the frightened stray cat I used to feed who hid in the bushes by the side of my house. Maybe it was the tiny bird I cradled in my hands, hoping it would survive the fall it didn’t choose. Maybe it’s just something that’s always been in me—empathy for unspoken pain that doesn’t have a voice.

As a writer, I’ve found that all kinds of emotions naturally weave themselves into my stories. My characters often face difficult moral choices. Justice, loyalty, love, and betrayal are at the heart of what I write. And always, there’s an animal nearby—faithful and protective. Not just a side character, but a reflection of truth in its purest form.

In my novel The Unseen Sacrifice, dogs play a symbolic and literal role in the story’s unfolding. They are both victims and protectors. They don’t get the luxury of explaining their side of the story. But they feel everything—and that, to me, is worth writing about.

Why do I care so much about animals who cannot defend themselves? Because I believe they’re some of the greatest gifts we’ve been given—and often the most taken for granted. They don’t lie. They don’t scheme. They love without conditions. When they are hurting, it’s usually because a human failed them. And that breaks my heart every time. To be loved means to feel treasured and safe.

Writing gives me a way to explore my feelings—not just the sadness, but the strength, the protection, the fierce love we feel for the animals who trust us. It also gives me a chance to ask bigger questions: What does it mean to defend the defenseless? What does justice look like when the victim can’t speak? How do we, as humans, live up to the loyalty we so easily receive from them?

This post isn’t just about dogs or animals. It’s about compassion. It’s about standing up for those who can’t. It’s about listening to what isn’t said. And if even one reader finishes my book and feels more protective, more aware, more stirred inside—that’s all I could ask for.

So, if you’ve ever loved a dog, cried over a rescue story, or looked into an animal’s eyes and felt something deep stir inside you… you’re in the right place.

Welcome. I’m so glad you’re here!

{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

1

post-2878","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
